Alton VanDyke, Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Alton VanDyke, Jr., 90, will be held Wednesday June 1st at 11 A. M. at the Friendship Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Drace officiating with burial to follow in Bellevernon Cemetery. Mr. VanDyke died Sunday May 29th at the Tennova Healthcare in Dyersburg after a short illness. He was born in Friendship, TN son of the late Alton N. and Vannie Wyrick VanDyke and had lived most of his life in the Friendship community. Alton was a retired route salesman for Harts Bread, a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in WWII and was an avid fisherman. He was married to Melva Ann Williams VanDyke for 66 years who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Mike VanDyke, Friendship, TN, daughter, Cheryl Harris (Terry), Friendship, TN, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Shad VanDyke, Tyler Harris, Cody VanDyke, Tony VanDyke, Shawnee Brasfield, Wayne Robertson, and Mac Summerlin with honorary pallbearers being Gerald Rodgers, Bill Summerlin, Kenny Webster, Otha Castellaw, Joe Camp, Bill Starett, and Frank Brasfield.
