Bessie Ellen Reed's Obituary
Bessie Ellen Reed, 86, died on Friday December 13, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Los Angeles, CA daughter of the late William Howard and Lethia Pearl Winfree Herndon. Mrs. Reed had lived in Los Angeles, New Mexico, and Crockett County, TN for most of her life. She also lived in Florida where she was a teletype operator and an aviation student. Most of her employment life was in Friendship, TN where she retired after a successful food service business. She was married to L. V. Reed who preceded her in death in 2016. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Elvie Reed, Roellen, TN, Thurman Reed (Marilyn) Dyersburg, TN, Rhonde Green (Mark), Friendship, TN, Pam Woodard (Bubba), Friendship;, TN, brother William "Butch" Herndon, Mt. Vernon, MO, sister, Joyce Roerig, South Carolina, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday December 16, 2024, at Noon at the Friendship Funeral Home with, Rev. Jeff Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak View Memorial Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home until time of the service. Friendship Funeral Home 731-677-2673.
