Funeral services for Dorothy Thompson Cox, 89, will be held on Tuesday November 29,2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Friendship Funeral Home with Revs. Danny O'Guin and Clyde Thompson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Cox died on Saturday November 26,2022 at the Oakwood Community Living Center after a lengthy illness.. She was born in Dyer County daughter of the Late Herbert and Elizabeth Thompson. and was a retired Data operator for J. C. Penny Co. Mrs. Thompson lived most of her life in Dyer County and Memphis, TN and was a faithful member of the Fowlkes Baptist Church. She is survived to cherish her memory, her spouse of seventy years, Andy Cox, Dyersburg, TN, daughter, Karen Miles (Willaim), Memphis, TN, sons, Andy Cox, Jr. (Carol), Memphis, TN, Kevin Cox (Linda), Bakersfield, NC, sister, Gladys Martin, Bells, TN, brother, Percy G. Thompson,, Friendship, TN, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded by a son, Steve Cox, brothers, Clyde, Sr. Walter, J. M. Thompson, Robert Thompson, sisters, Ruth Balentine, & Kate Houston. Pallbearers will be Richard Thompson, Percy Thompson, William Miles, Andy Cox Jr., Herbert Balentine and Paul Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Fowlkes, Bill, Jones and Jeff Yarbrough., Visitation will be from 12 noon until funeral time. Friendship Funeral Home 731-677-2673.
