Ethel Delores Archer's Obituary
Heaven became a little brighter on April 23, 2016 when Delores Archer,80, went on to be with the Lord. Delores will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, Thomas, her children and grandchildren. She was a lady who was caring, compassionate, strong and a very hard worker. Delores was always quick to help others and had a deep love for all children. She was a member of the Maury City First Baptist Church, where she was active as a beginner teacher and served on the decorating committee for several years. She was involved in Vacation Bible school especially with crafts where she used her many talents; she could do anything she put her mind to. In her last years, you would find her working at A & A Produce. She was known for her jams, jellies and tomato juice.
She was born to Harmon and Lucy Kemp George on Oct. 16, 1935. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Travis George, two sisters Louise Pitner and Auttie May Bryant, a daughter Barbara Sue and a daughter in law Vickie Archer. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas "Sluggo" Archer, Maury City, TN a son Tommy Archer, a daughter Jessica Martin,brother Layford George, sister Nell Doughten, all of Maury City, TN grandchildren, Dan Archer,Jason Archer, Matthew Archer, Jordan Martin, Hunter Archer, Camren Archer all of Maury City, TN and Alex Summerlin , Friendship, TN. Pallbearers will be Bobby Doughten, Mike Haynes, Danny George, Danny Harris, Glen Harris, and Franklin Hollingshead.
Services will be held Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at the Maury City First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Waddey officiating with burial to follow in the Maury City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Monday April 25th 5-8 P. M. Memorials may be made to NOAH P.O. Box 67 Maury City, TN 38050.
