Homer Joe Young's Obituary
Homer Joe Young, 71, Friendship, passed away Wednesday, June 4,2025 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born August 1,1953 in Dyersburg to the late Preston and Willodean Spry Young. He lived his entire life in Crockett County.
Homer Joe was a lifelong farmer and a retired employee of the State of Tennessee from the Department of Agriculture. He was an avid horseman, always being a part of the St. Jude Trail Ride. He loved hunting and fishing and was member of the First Christian Church in Chestnut Bluff.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by a stepson, Blake Parker. He leaves his wife, Mitzi Morton Young of Friendship; son, Preston Young of Friendship; daughters, Tessa Young of Friendship, Leigh Ann Hay (Shane) of Friendship, stepdaughters, Bridget McBryde (Todd) of Gadsden, Cassie Lindsey (Cooper) of Bells; brother Ricky Young (Kathy) of Alamo; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 12:30 pm Saturday, June 7th at South Fork Cemetery in Chestnut Bluff with Rev. Chris Hilliard officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00pm at Friendship Funeral Home. Pallbearers to serve will be Cy Young, Johnny Biggs, Shane Hay, Cooper Lindsey, Shannon Mayo and Ethan Parker.
