Ida Mae Davis' Obituary
Funeral services for Ida Mae Davis, 95, will be 11:30 am Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Friendship Funeral Home with Spencer Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Crockett County Nursing Home in Alamo. She was born in Dyer County, the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Cook Irvin and had lived her entire life in Dyer and Crockett counties. She was the widow of Cecil Davis and a member of Friendship Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and worked at Kellwood Mfg., completed a computer course, had her CNA license and was a teacher's assistant at Friendship Elementary School where she worked 25 years and was 82 years old when she retired. Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Davis and 11 brothers and sisters: Roy Cunningham, Elbert Cunningham, Alma Newell, Cleo Cunningham, Millard Irvin, Dola Freeman, Frankie Lou Smith, Buena V. Day, Bill Irvin, Margie Whittle and Robert Irvin. Survivors include son, James "Woody" Davis (Kay) of Bells; daughter-in-law, Sue Davis of Gadsden; daughter, Diane Summerlin (Mac) of Friendship; grandchildren, Jeff Davis (Charlene), Brent Davis (Gary), Holly Staats (Cole), heath Davis (Ashley), Mallory Hargett (Austin), Chelsea Terry (Spencer); great grandchildren, Megan Matlock (Zak), Matt Davis, Alex Gentile, Macklin Hargett, Virginia Terry; great great grandchildren, Cameron Matlock, Oliver Matlock, Axel Davis Gentile. Pallbearers will be Heath Davis, Jeff Davis, Brent Davis, Matt Davis, Mac Summerlin, Alex Gentile, Austin Hargett and Woody Davis. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to NOAH or Friendship Elementary School for library books. Due to the increasing number of covid infections masks will be required to enter the funeral home.
