Mr. James 'Jim' Lawrence Butler Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral Mass for James 'Jim' Butler, Jr.,85 will be held Thursday September 8, 2016 at 11:30 A. M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Al Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Butler died Sunday September 4, 2016 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Boston, MA son of the late James L. and Theresa Ruggiero Butler and came to Jackson in 1959 where he was plant manager for Citi Plate Manufacturing. Mr. Butler was a communicant of St. Mary's Church where he sang in the choir and was very dedicated in missionary work having founded a Christian girls home in Moron, Haiti and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a veteran in the U. S. Marines having served in the Korean Conflict and was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir. Survivors include his wife Darlene Butler of 64 years, Jackson, sons James Butler, III (Mary) Arlington, TN, Matthew Butler (Amanda) Medina, TN, Michael Butler (Shobhna), Atlanta, GA, daughters Kathy Moore (Danny) Milan, TN, Jeanne Johnson (Joe) Jackson, TN, Teri Oeding (Rob) Memphis, TN, sisters Ann Palazzolo, Medford, MA, Franny Cerullo, Westwood, MA,12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be at St. Mary's on September 8, 2016 from 9-11 A. M. with a rosary being said at 11 A. M. and the mass to follow at 11:30 A. M. Memorials may be made to Christian Girls Home in Moron, Haiti P. O. Box 3441, Jackson, TN 38303-3441. Pallbearers to serve at the service will be Wayne Holmes, Jimmy Gibson, Matthew Butler, Wayne Niehoff, Jason Moore and Vic Buchholz.
