Jim Williams Jr's Obituary
Jim Williams Junior (85) died at home early Sunday morning November 13th, 2016 surrounded by family.
Four years ago on August 28, 2012, Mr. Jim was outside riding his tractor when he approached a dirt bank too closely and the two toppled over, thus pinning him between the tractor and ground and leaving him bed ridden. The years to come would be hard on everyone in the family but, with his loving wife Betty by his side daily, he continued to brighten up everyone's day with that infectious smile and hearty laugh.
Jim was born on July 31st, 1931 in Green Hill Bottom, Tennessee to parents Katherine Perry and Jim Williams Senior.
On August 19th, 1952, he married Betty Shoffner Williams.
Jim was drafted into the army shortly thereafter where he spent 2 years in the service. He retired from Memphis LG&W after 33 years.
He was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by parents Jim and Katherine Williams, younger brothers Bill and GH Williams, as well as son Gene's Wife and beloved daughter in law, Maria Williams.
Survivors include wife of 64 Years, Betty Shoffner Williams,
sons Gene, Kelly and Mark (Gayle) Williams, daughter Sarah (Ed) Haynes,
sisters, Linda (Lynn) Mount and Sue (Roy) Scobey
brother Jerry (Billie Jean) Williams. Grandchildren, Matthew (Lindsay), Brian Williams and Jonathan (Emma) Williams and Jessie (Anthony) Barren, Sloan Simpson and
dearly loved great grandchildren Audrey and Marlena Williams with another on the way.
Visitation service will be held Tuesday November 15th from 4-8pm at Friendship Funeral Home. Funeral is scheduled for 2pm Wednesday the 16th at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr Jerry Drace and Rev Tim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery.
