Joan Cates Gibbons' Obituary
Joan Cates Gibbons, 82, died peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her daughter's residence in Tucson, AZ. Joan was born and raised in Alamo, TN and had lived her life in Crockett County. She was a member of the Maury City Baptist Church. Her family would like to invite all friends and family to her funeral services that will be Monday, February 17, 2025 at Maury City Baptist Church in Maury City, TN. Visitation will be at 11 AM and services starting at 1 PM with burial following in the Floyd's Chapel Cemetery.
Joan was married to Jimmy H. Gibbons who preceded her in death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ada Wilkerson Cates and L.O. (Jack) Cates, her sister Peggy Loftis, her brother Larry Cates, and her daughter Lucy Gibbons Uselton.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter Shewania Holmes (Stan), sons Donnie Riley, Lee (Jody) Gibbons; seven grandchildren - Alyssa Holmes, B. Jack Riley, Clint Riley, Hannah Permenter (Dustin), Darla Cox (Tyler), Haley Gibbons Beaird, Preston Gibbons and seven great grandchildren; Reyna Aranda, Krista Riley, Reese Riley, Ray-Lee Riley, Lyn B. Permenter, Eliana Permenter, Lynden Gibbons; her sister-in-law Susan Gibbons Jenkins (Harvey) and her uncle James Emerson.
She will be remembered and cherished by her family for her love of people and her sweet smile. She will be in our hearts forever and always. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
