John Edward Vernon's Obituary
Services for John Edward Vernon, 71, Friendship will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Friendship United Methodist Church with Bro. Andy Fisher and Bro. Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery. He died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Vernon was born in Crockett County, son of the late Joseph G. and Marion Ernestine Greer Vernon. He was a retired mortgage broker from PDQ in Chicago, IL and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where he served as choir director for many years. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Ernest Vernon and C.J. (Bubba) Vernon. Survivors include his wife, Janet Henderson Vernon of Gadsden; son, Joseph Justin Vernon (Lesa) of Bartlett; daughter, MaryJo Moore (Tim) of Friendship; sister, Judy Allison (James Ray) of Jackson; grandchildren, Rachel Vernon and Tyler Vernon. Pallbearers will be Chris Allison, Greg Allison, Fred Allison, Craig Spellings, Herbert Worrell and Bill Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Vernon, John Vernon, Bobby Vernon, Bill Holland, Freddie Bivens and Jack Hewitt. Visitation will be 5 pm - 8 pm Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church from 10 am until service time. Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church.
