Katie Thompson Wyrick Houston's Obituary
Services for Katie Thompson Wyrick Houston, 89, will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Friendship Funeral Home with Mike Hixson officiating with burial to follow in the Bellevernon Cemetery. Mrs. Houston, wife of James Houston died on Saturday Sept. 5, 2020 at the Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN after a lengthy illness. She was born in Dyer County, TN daughter of the late L. H. and Mary Elizabeth Thompson and had lived most of her life in Memphis and Dyer Counties and was a retired Cosmetologist Instructor with Volunteer Beauty Academy. She was first married to Ted Wyrick who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a member of the Olive Branch Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Danny Wyrick (Vicki), Munford, TN, daughters, Beverly Duke, Robinsonville, MS, Monnie Elizabeth Matthews (Robert) Bartlett, TN, sisters, Dorothy Cox (Andy), Fowlkes, TN, Gladys Martin, Bells, TN, brother, Percy Thompson, (Mary Lou)) Friendship stepchildren, Lindy Boyd, Stanton, TN, Ronald Houston, Flagstaff, AZ, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five step grandchildren. She was also preceded by a stepson James Randall Houston. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday Sept. 8,2010 beginning at 11:00 a. m. until service time.
