Roy Carman Mallard's Obituary
Roy Carman Mallard died in Nashville, Tennessee at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital on August 11, 2017. He was born on May 13, 1957 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the younger son of Jack F. Mallard, Sr. and Jeanne Carman Mallard.
He graduated from Dyersburg High School in 1975 and attended University of Memphis, Dyersburg State Community College, and Freed-Hardeman University. He was a graduate of Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas.
Roy was a successful Beltone hearing aid representative, embalmer, and paint contractor. He was actively involved in worship and service at the Trevecca Nazarene Community Church and the Nashville Rescue Mission. To know Roy was to love him because of his generous and loving spirit. He never met a stranger. There are many people who have received help and kind deeds from him as he was always ministering to others in his path who were struggling with life’s addictions. His strength for the Lord was shown in his fight to keep trying to overcome obstacles.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Jack Mallard, Sr.; and his grandparents, Roy and Minnie Lou Carman, William Authur Mallard, and Jeannie Mallard Lipscomb. He is survived by three children: a daughter, Kelly (David) Hames, of Trezavant, Tennessee; two sons, Kyle Mallard, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Casey Mallard of Union City, Tennessee; his mother, Jeanne Mallard of Bells, Tennessee; a brother, Jack (Debbie) Mallard, Jr., from Jackson, Tennessee; six grandchildren, and a nephew and a niece.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Friendship Funeral Home in Friendship, Tennessee on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue until the time for the service at 5:00 p.m.
