Mrs. Sylvia Taylor Reeves' Obituary
Sylvia Reeves was born Sylvia Taylor in Friendship, Tennessee on September 4, 1925. She was the youngest of eight children born to Fred Dalton Taylor and Tennessee "Tennie" Pearl Duncan. She passed away on August 26, 2018 in Mission Viejo, California. Sylvia married her late husband, Jim S. Reeves, when he was released as a Prisoner of War during World War II. They were married on July 4, 1945, in Gibson County Tennessee. Sylvia is survived by her three children; Pamela Reeves Williams, Cheryl Reeves McCullough and James E. Reeves; her eight grandchildren; Kimberly Boydstun, Larry Boydstun, Teresa McCullough Goetsch, James R. Reeves, Venecia Huffman, Jammie Reeves, Veronica Reeves and her six great-grandchildren, Tyler Boydstun, Tanner Boydstun, Christopher Peterson, Cory Peterson, Kyra Goetsch and Katelyn Goetsch. Sylvia spent fifty nine years in the insurance industry, opening her own agency in 1959. She was a pioneer in the business when it was virtually unheard of for a woman to run a business. In addition, she was a very successful real estate investor. She was also actively involved with fundraising for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, September 7, 2018 at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in Friendship, Tennessee at the Friendship Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11 a. m. with Rev. Keith Harwell officiating with burial to follow in the Friendship Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Friendship United Methodist Church.
